I was responsible for the artwork and design of all the Exam papers and inserts for the candidates. Participants were shown 132 combinations of flash cards, using two at a time. The subjects shouted the card they thought the saw first. The aim was to distinguish which shapes and colours viewers found more attention grabbing. Good was Garamond, and bad was Bradley Hand. Combining the good and the bad, it created La Belle et la Bete, a conceptual typeface. Different versions of Garamond were layered up, as so many versions of the same font were available. Then the image was projected and photographed. The Bradley Hand typeface poster was inspired by reminding me of teachers handwriting when learning to form letters.
